Since all CDs are digital anyway, what is this digital Video CD or digital VCD? Thanks in advance for your help.

http://www.vcdhelp.com will explain what VCD is. Basically it's an old video format that pre-dates DVD and is suitable for burning to CD-R. It is very easy to burn your own VCDs and CD-R media is pretty cheap, so it has managed to survive so far. When DVD-R media and DVD burners get significantly cheaper, it may become obsolete.
