DV525 LASER adjustment

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi VDC folks,

my Pioneer DV525 quit playing CDs. First it interrupted after a few minutes, then it doesn't accept any CDs. A friend told me, that I have to adjust the resistance of the Laser. Has anyone of you done something similar before? Which of the variable resistances corresponds to the CD-mode? Do I have to reduce the resistance or...

Thanks!

I think your friend is probably joking. I've never heard of adjusting the resistance of a laser. Of course, for all we know YOU might be joking. In case you are serious, let me say this - if you have to ask how to do something like this, you really should not attempt to do it yourself. Your DVD player needs professional service and it's not a do-it-yourself kind of thing.

Yes, Root is right. You need professional technician to check on your set. Probably it's the optical pickup is faulty. As you know, it wouldn't last forever. After 1 to 2 years of usage, it will worn-out and needs replacement. This is NOT a do-it-yourself thing, you will only made it worse, if you start adjusting other setting. It's need also the right equiments to test it.
