How can I create a VCD using AVI files? Can I do This?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

How can I create VCDS fron AVI files that I have to play in my DVD player. It takes like 32 hours to convert the AVI to MPEG with the converter that I have. It would be a whole lot easier to create a VCD from AVI because that is what format all of the movies I have are in. What program do I need to create VCD from AVI? Where do I get it? How do I use it? Is there a faster way to convert AVI to MPEG in case you can't create a VCD from AVI? I normally use ROXIO easy CD creater 5 Platinum to create VCDs. Thanks ahead of time for all of your help I appreciate it!!!

www.vcdeasy.org for all your encoding and burning answers.

personally I like tmpge for encoding, extract the audio first with virtual dub, and nero for burning.

You must convert AVI to MPEG-1 to burn a VCD. There are faster encoders out there. TMPGenc is very good. http://www.vcdhelp.com has a lot of guides to get you going.
