My G-G-G-Grandfather was Adam Whitley born about 1823 his 1st. wife was Sally or Sarah and his 2nd. wife was Nelly Hinson. Adam may have been killed in action in War between the States, (42nd. NC Co. C). Adam's children were Ellen P., John A., Becky, Green D., Sarah E., and Mary J. Trying to find more information about family before the war. Nelly may have remarried.

Answers

Walt Misenheimer made a list of Confederate soldiers from Stanly Co for the new Heritage book from Stanly Co. In this is listed Adam Whitley, Pvt. 42nd Regiment NC Troops Co. D. enlisted at the age of 39, Feb. 1, 1862 died at Weldon Hospital March 5, 1863. Doesn't say where Weldon Hospital is.
