problem with Thomson DHT 4000

Hi to all, I have a problem with my new DVD,Thomson DTH 4000, it doesn't read CDR and CDRW. I've also read that DTH 4200 is able to read them. Does anyone know how to make that my DVD read CDr and CDRW or, if it's not possible, how to modify mi DVD to DTH 4200? Thanks.

If it says it does, try burning music first to test it. Just burn an MP3 and see if your DVD player picks it up. If it does, then move on to http://vcdhelp.com and see if you can find your DVD player on the compatibility list. It may or may not be able to read (S)VCD's and other VCD's, so hopefully the list will have your DVD player.

Good luck!

It's not really possible to modify your player. It involves replacing the laser and possibly the firmware to get it to play CD-R/W discs. You'd be better off to buy a player that supports these media out of the box. You might also consider complaining to Thomson about the incompatibility. Threaten to never buy one of their products again because they did this to you and maybe if you are lucky, they will offer you some of deal to trade in your player for the DTH 4200.

Thanks to all of us. I'll try to contact with Thomson and I'll see what can I do.
