Choppy after a couple minutes into VCD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

OK I need help. I have Roxio Adaptec 5.0 plat. I have tried to make a VCD, when I put it in my DVD it plays fine for a couple minutes then it starts shuttering (not digital break down) like slow motion and the audio gets choppy. I have tried defraging and remaking the movie. I tried a different DVD. I have made the movies with Pinnacle Studio 7 and then use the Roxio video CD creator. Plextor 24 burner. Anyone got any ideas?? Also tried different brand cd's too. Thanks for any suggestions,

PAul

You didn't tell us what brand and model your DVD player, which is VERY important. Check the DVD player compatibility list at http://www.vcdhelp.com and see what it says about your player. It could be that your player doesn't support burnable media. It could also be a problem with Roxio. I don't recommend people use Roxio. Nero is much better. If your DVD player does support burnable media, go to http://www.ahead.de and download a copy of Nero and use it to make the VCD. You can use it free for 30 days.

Aside from dumping Roxio (the very first important essential thing u should do before anything else and don't join the herd that says if it was bundled with my CD-writer it must be good: completely uninstall that poisonous piece of software before installing Nero) you can try yet another brand of CD-R, and last but not least try encoding your original AVI files with TMPGenc. Pinnacle is trying to muscle in on the area that is Adobe Premiere's turf and while no- one's saying it's bad it has some way to go. Considering that maybe u should try Premiere6.5
