For those of you wanting to dual boot with Linux and Windows/DOS...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : All Things Final Fantasy II : One Thread

We all know that Lilo and Grub suck as boot loaders. If you only have one hard drive, unlike me, they may have corrupted your only hard drive's master boot record, thus screwing you over. But fear no more! I have found a great program that will allow you to multi boot without the use of floppy disks, very picky boot loaders, or just sticking with Windows. I can assure you that this has worked for me and has saved me a lot of hastle. Just follow the directions and everything should work. By the way, the address is linux.sh/loadlin.html. For those of you wondering why I'm going this, I'm doing it to encourage you to come use linux and to help those already using it but having frustrations.

Yeah! Now, everyone get Linux! You can download many distributions.

OR, you can buy them for cheap prices at Edmunds-Enterprises.
OR, you can get them for free from the FreeLinux CD Project.
Oh, you can also purchase redhat linux at many computer stores. But i recommend not to, seeing as how redhat linux suckz.

Think I'll stick with Win XP. I haven't seen someone push a product this hard since that Amway guy came to my house.

For an OS that sucks, Redhat sure hasn't done me wrong. I'm still amazed at the sheer stability of it as compared to Windows. I've yet to have it do anything to the extent of a blue screen of death in windows. Don't listen to FC about that one. Redhat is great for beginners in linux because a lot of stuff is set up automatically or through wizards. That doesn't mean you still can't do things manually though. I'm rather new to linux but with enough experimentation, you can figure out many things. As a matter of fact, I figured out how to mount (get linux to recognize) my FAT32 (DOS) partitions on my hard drive. So now, instead of going through the hassle of downloading all my mp3s and whatnot again, all I have to do is copy them from one place to another. If you have enough computer knowledge to run a DOS prompt (just to make a boot up installation disk) and you know what resolution your monitor uses and the color depth, you should be able to install Redhat with no problem.

Well, I'm sick of KDE and Gnome. I need a new desktop environment.
