Prayer request - not tempted YET but can see it coming!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hi, everyone!

This is sort of a "prayer request in advance"! I have been getting several (unwanted) e-mails from an ex-boyfriend today, and would like to ask your prayers that I resist any temptation to respond or communicate with him in any way.

Now the thing is, right now I am NOT the slightest bit tempted to get back together with him! However, in the past, I have said the same thing, only to give in later - and regret it! So I'm going to ask your help - please pray that I will CONTINUE to remember just what a jerk this guy was, and not let him persuade me to get back into a bad relationship!

Thanks, everyone - and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to y'all!! :-)

Hi Christine,

Doesn't hotmail provide a way of blocking email from specific senders? AOL and many other mail servers do.

I will also pray for you, that you may have the spiritual strength to do what God would have you do. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all else will be given to you as well".

Peace!, Paul

Yes, I have tried to block him, but he is one of those "computer geeks" who has a whole bunch of different "aliases" - so it's easier just to try to ignore him!! Eventually he'll get tired and go back to his DVDs and cats. ;-)

Hi All,

It is good to support Christine by our prayers and let us not forget that the poor 'jerk'(according to Christine) needs prayers too. Let us pray for everyone this Christmas.

God Bless

Dear Christine,

You make me nervous when you call him a 'jerk' because it is the jerks that make your heart sing - when you're young, anyway...I remember the 'jerks.' Wanna let go, wanna hold on...

I will pray for you, Christine. Keep saying the St. Michael prayer that he protect you from anyone or anything that is not good for you.

Merry Christmas, Christine - Pray for strength

Love, ML

Dear Christine, some scriptures come to mind.. from Romans 7 and 8. St. Paul says in vs. 15 'For I do not do what I want, but I do what I hate. ..the willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not. For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. ....Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body ? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord." and 8:5, "For those who live according to the flesh are concerned with the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the spirit with things of the spirit. The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace. ....But you are not in the flesh; on the contrary, you are in the spirit, if only the spirit of God dwells in you. ...For if you live according to the flesh , you will die, but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

Christine, these words have power, just choose life. I know you know, only God's love brings life, chase after it with all your might.

Dear Theresa,

You have chosen the perfect Scripture reading for Christine.

May God give her wisdom and discernment. God does protect those who love Him; He will protect Christine.

Merry Christmas, Theresa!

Well, the best possible thing happened - he wrote a long-winded diatribe - very similar to some of the bizarre posts that we see here from time to time - attacking the Catholic Church (after he'd read my "Theist Gal" page). It really steamed me, so I just deleted it (yay!!) and will hope that the "Block Sender" feature catches all his aliases in the future.

I must say, that pretty much killed any latent desires that might have been flowing inside me, 'cause it served as a VIVID reminder of all the muck & filth I left behind. And thank God for that, because I have a tendency to romanticize my past relationships - and his message pretty much killed any possibility of romanticizing THAT one! :-)

Christine L,

I'm late in reading this thread, but will offer a prayer for your continued rejection of the ex. Glad to read he hurt his chances with his diatribe.
