"The Fall of the House of Usher" is about a man named Roderick and his sister Madiline. Roderick has to marry his twin sister; it is the family curse. Their house is set in a tarn which represents a barrier to society. Also, the house has a crack down the center which means that the family is weak. Roderick later realizes that he cannot escape his fate and tries to bury his sister alive in a long valut. Later his sister some how gets out and comes to the room that her brother and the narrorator are in and they die together. When the narrator leaves the house he sees a blood red moon that symbolizes death. The tarn covers the house as it falls during the freak storm.
