Why did poe cheat on virginia even though he knows the drama it put his foster parents in?

No evidence of cheating. His surviving foster parent John Allan, had ditched Poe long before Virginia. If you are talking about those lady friends of Poe and Virginia, again there is no evdence of anything on Poe's part. I guess even repeating this negation raises suspicion in the mind. Such is is the infectious nature of slander.

I agree. Dispite Virginia's poor health, his love for her grew and he married her when she was 13. My suggestion is to read "The Oval Portrait" and find out where that piece of literature came from in Poe's life.
