If the teacher is that challenged that he(she) cannot spot plagiarism then they will probably be wowed by anything original as well with no risk of shame and ounishment. Poe himself had a curious problem with plagiarism, accusing others of miniute borrowings that he often did himself. However steeped you might be in knowledge(www.eapoe.org is a good quick way to get into all of Poe) it is polite and academically required to acknowledge sources and show some insightful itegration of your esteemedhardworking predecessors into your own honest effort.

Try that Bible exercise of taking a volume of Poe opening it at random, blindly put a finger on a passage and use that to springboard your thought and thesis.
