Do you belive in miracles?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hello to everyone.

My name is Michael and I am from the UK. My question is this.

My father suffered from schizophrenia for 30 years coupled with manic depression and paranoia. He then met Mother Teresa on numerous times and used to phone her at the 'Mother House' on Christas day ecah year. On one of his last visits she told him he would be well, that Jesus would heal him, and as she said this my father says he saw a halo above her head and not long after this the symptons on schizophrenia 'diappeared'. His local Doctor confirmned this and his case was sent to the Vatican after her death. Recently, my father was in contact with Father Brian Kolodiejchuk who is the postulator for Mother Teresa, who advised my father that his case was classed by the Vatican as a 'favour'. My father is not totally well. He still suffers from mania (very limited depression and very slight paranoia), but then again, don't we all. In conclusion there is no doubt that my father's schizophrenia appears to have gone but do you think it could have been a miracle, an intervention from God or possibly the power of my father's own mind? In the words of Mother Teresa "All for Jesus"

Dear Michael,

What a beautiful story, thank you for sharing that with us.

Yes, I most certainly do believe in miracles. Jesus said, "Your faith has saved you, go in peace."

God sends us miracles every day, but we fail to see them sometimes.

In fact, I am reading a book called "Expect A Miracle" by Dan Wakefield. It contains many miraculous healings, not always physical ones, but definitely spiritual healings.

I have seen many miracles in my life not to believe in them.

May God continue to bless you, your father and your whole family. Please continue to witness to others of your father's healing - that is what we are supposed to do, Michael. Let everyone know how powerful prayer is, how powerful God is.

Take care,

MaryLu

Yes Michael!! I pray for more expectant faith everyday. Our God IS a God of miracles. He wants to lift our heads up, and loves to see His children walk in joy and confidence in His providential care. His Name is Jehova Rotha {now I probably misspelled it}, which means God of healing. Remember the angel Raphael in the book of Tobit, who healed Tobiah's eyes, his name means 'healing'.

It's a tender balance we walk in, to be confident in God's ability and desire to heal--and yet to be in submission to His Will, waiting on Him and knowing He knows the big picture and will heal as HE sees fit. Sometimes Jesus healed immediately, sometimes in stages, and sometimes on peoples' deathbeds.

Our family has ancestors who were schizophrenic, my own brother lived his life with schizphrenia,I know the heartbreak of the disease. A few of us family members have intensely prayed in the last 3 years for healing in our generational lines of this disease. I believe our Lord has shown us great mercy and healing. Thank you for sharing, we stay in prayer, expectant prayer. Love, Theresa

Michael,

This is a miracle by God and not the outcome of your father’s mind. Ask your self this question why did God chose to heal your father and not some one else instead?

There are so many people I know suffering worst than what your father suffered. They too have positive belief and thinking, that they will be healed. Some of them have already died with the disease but were never healed.

I see this as a direct intervention from God who for sure has a plan for your father.

Remember : "If we live, we live for Christ, if we die we die for HIM who made us." So whether we live or die, we are directly or indirectly fullfillingh the

Remember: "If we live, we live for Christ, if we die we die for HIM who made us." So whether we live or die, we are directly or indirectly fulfilling the will and plan of God.

Peace

i belive in miracles but i would like to know the 3 miracles of mother teresa

I don't know the 3 miracles of Mother Teresa, but perhaps someone else on the Forum does. I would like to know them too.

I have a miracle to share. My friend's 12-year old niece died from lukemia(sp)? In the months before she died, she told everyone about Jesus and was so full of joy all the time, did not fear dying. This 12-year old child said that she was thankful for the 12 years she had on this earth, and her wonderful family, but most of all she was thankful for the gift of faith and prayed that her sickness would bring about spiritual healing for her family.

You see, her family members had not gone to church in years (including her extended family)

Her prayers were answered. Every member of her immediate and extended family have gone back to church, confession, and are receiving the Eucharist.

This precious little angel died at 12 years old, but through her example during her illness, she touched so many lives - she wasn't healed, but her family was. They received a spiritul healing and I look at that as a miracle!

There are so many miracles, but people fail to see them in our every day lives.

Thanks, MaryLu, for this beautiful TRUE story.

I was so moved by it that I immediately had the idea to suggest that you bring all the facts to the attention of the deceased girl's bishop. I think that he should begin the process to investigate her life, with the possible final outcome being her canonization. She would be a wonderful role model for other young people.

God bless you.
