Rem 700 -270 cal. (More accurate)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

I have a 270. cal Remington 700 strickly for Deer hunting. I have moved to an area where longer range shots (Fields) are more than likely. (I have Tasco 8x-40x56mm on it now) what could I do to make this rifle more accurate, shoot longer range or just perform better than it came stock? (Heavy barrel?) Thank you.

I have a BB gun and I shot deer on the moon consistantly, heart shots every time. How much more accurate do you want me to be?

I can make shots with my remington 270 and a tasco 6x42 and I can hit white tails out at 500 yards with no problem. How much more range do you need than that.

Rob I can shoot a 5 inch group at 400 yards with my .270 sako 75, fitted with a 8x56 swarovski scope as it came straight out of the box. How much further away do you want to be to shoot deer? If you cannot place an humane shot at any range you should not take the shot. Perhaps it is just a little more practice that you need not improvements to your rifle. Happy Shooting Dereck

check your beding, trigger weight and creep, make sure you have no copper build up,make sure your scope is mounted straight, may have to work up new loads, it's just a start!bobby
