Copy VCD to VHS via SCART or other. Possible?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Because of the difference in cost between an analogue capture card and the same with TV-OUT I would like to know if it is possible to record Video CDs on a normal VHS video recorder. I gather there is something about DVDs that makes this impossible but is it the same with VCDs?

What I am hoping to do is transfer analogue video from a VHS video recorder to my PC, edit it and then store it on both a VCD and a VHS cassette. Buying a CD-R compatible DVD player seems to be cheaper than the extra money needed to buy a PC card with TV-OUT. If copying is possible it would mean I could just plug the video into the DVD player and make the VHS version that way.

Thanks for the information. That saves me about seven hundred zloties, I can just buy an analogue capture card instead of getting something with a TV-OUT.
