Kansas Champs update

The Kansas (and Missouri) Short Champs is just days away. Info about the meet is available at:

http://uokh.netfirms.com/state02.html

Mary and I spent some time in the terrain this weekend. The vetting tapes are all in place (and checked at least once). The courses are ready.

Alar Ruutopold (from Up North Orienteers in New Hampshire) was visiting Kansas City over Thanksgiving and got out to Clinton and ran the short course. If I remember correctly, he ran 27:19. Alar's time looks good to me, but I expect some of the big-gun elite-types will run under 25.

Keep in mind -- the restroom at the start/finish area will be locked, but there is an open restroom in the campground at the west side of the park. Also, keep in mind that this is a mass start event. If you're late for the start, you're out of luck (though you can always help pick up markers).

Mary got an interesting new entry for the KS champs today. I won't give it away. But, I'll give you a clue. This guy's running PRs are: 5K – 14:08, 10K – 29:17, and Marathon - 2:19:28.

Results from the state champs are posted, of course.
