In THE IMP OF PERSERVE, THE TELL TALE HEART, and THE BLACK CAT, a murder was committed and it was perfectly done and no one knew about it. But why do you think that the doer ( the murderer) confessed then?

why did he behave in such awy?

Is it because of a guilt, or something else?
