Savage 10 FP

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

I'm considering the purchase of a Savage 10 FP with 20" bbl. in .308 Most of my shooting will be at 100 yds and possibly 200 yds, if the range is available. My question is; Would a 24" barrel be a better choice or would a 20" be as accurate at these distances?

Thanks, Mick

A 20" barrel will work fine, even out to 1000 yards. The wind does tend to be more of a problem past 600 yards with the 20". I have a Savage 10FP w/24" barrel and I love it. Why not go with the extra length, even if you don't plan on shooting at farther ranges you'll always have the ability to shoot better at those ranges...
