Question on Nero 5.5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi Guys Does any one know if the CD burning software Nero 5.5 splits the avi file which it says it can convert to mpeg.

What I mean by this is According to some the CD burning software Nero 5.5 encodes AVI format file to MPEG, but my question is what happens if the AVI file is more than 800 MB , how can this be split and written on 2 CDs using Nero and no other external products.

Nero contains no video editing features of any kind. If your encoded file is too big to fit on one CD, you will have to use another program to edit/split it.

Hi Guys In that case is there any CD burning software which would help me in encoding an AVI to MPEG( basically trying toe make a VCD formate) and also during the process of writing on to the CD tell me if it runs out of space so that i can insert a new disk. And it can continue to write from where it left of. I sound to be very lazy dont I, but bear with me. Any help is much appreciated

thanks

Hi I have tried TMPGEnc. It is very good. But this only converts ur AVI file to MPEG in how many ever parts you want. You still need a CD burner to write to a CD. So basically u need 2 softwares TMPGEnc and a cd burner. It would be nice if the CD burner does all the jobs like a) Convert AVI to MPEG b) Split the files in halfs to fit on a CD c) Write to a CD.

Also TMPGEnc took me about 14 Hrs to convert 720 MB AVI file to MPEG. Does it usually take this long or is it just me. Is there a something that can be done to run faster.
