Dear Mr.Omar,

Yours is quite a common problem which is encountered while nut welding. It depends a lot on machine settings, machine capacity. What you require is to give a pulse of high current in a small time. This ensures that the heat is restricted to the projection on the nuts only.

We are manufacturing nut welding machines of Capacitor Discharge type where we pass a heavy current in a short time of about 9 milliseconds. There is no discolouration of the nut or the component.

Subhash

u should use good digital timer, set with low timings i.e. .01sec to .05sec but u should increase heavy (higher k.v.a), then u get good result. with regards, mohansundaram.n former committee president,Tamilnadu stainless steel mfrs association.
