converting karaoke cd to vcd any ideas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

i have a karaoke vcd by abba, it is the origional but i want to convert it to vcd so i can play on my pc. Currently using xp proffetional and can only get sound , tells me that it is a cda file of around 2 meg, i presume it is protected as there are only around 16 tracks on the disk taking up 500+meg so is hiding the video fromme. Any ideas or help would be great

thanks

Well, to start with, you should try searching the net for a freeware VCD player that you can install right on your PC called "Subhash VCD Player". That player is the greatest I've ever used, and it's 100% freeware. Good place to start if you want to be sure that the problem doesn't lie in a software issue.

Second, if you are trying to extract the audio from it (as it appears you are referring to, I presume), you will need a freeware program called "VirtualDub", available at http://www.vcdhelp.us. That program will allow you to extract audio from a video source and burn just the audio to CD, if that's what you are looking to do.
