Daniel J. Levinson was the author of Seasons of a Man's Life and Seasons of a Woman's Life--both presented life-span developmental models. Levinson was on the faculty at Yale University. I can't find an obituary, but I believe he died within the last two years. You should have no trouble finding his books through the Library of Congress data base or WorldCat (in First Search). He was significant in shifting the focus of developmental psychology from childhood and adolescent to adults in midlife. You might check textbooks on life- span development for an overview of his model.

Marijo,

Daniel Levinson died on April 12, 1994. Although he had completed the manuscript for The Season's of a Woman's Life, the book was not yet ready for publication. His wife Judy Levinson carried on his work, and in December of 1996, she rendered what she termed "the final installment" of Daniel Levinson's "legacy" to the world (p. xiv). He published The Seasons of a Man's Life in 1978. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. If you are interested in his method of analysis particularly as applied to women, check out Dederick & Miller 's (1992) article on "Levinsonian Studies of Women's Adult Development". The four dissertations - Wendy Stewart (1977), Ruth Droege (1982), Kathryn Furst (1983), and Diane Adams (1983) - reviewed in this article are well worth reading in their entirety. My master's thesis (Sowles, 1995) contains an overview of his work with men and my dissertation will contain overviews of all of the above.
