how do philosophy and psychology relate

greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

hi, i would like to know what topic i could write about in regards to the philosophy of psychology. i have not been given any strict guidelines or restrictions from my instructor as to what to write about, so i believe anything is acceptable. i know that the philosophy of psychology is a broad range, so i was hoping to narrow it down to a topic or two. it is suppossed to be a 6 page paper. i really need your help on this one. thank you.

Yikes, philosophy and psychology don't generally mix. Most philosophers don't take into account psychological affect. In a more broad sense of the word philosophy, I would focus on a particular theory, example psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, humanistic etc. From those theories, you can break it down to a philosophy behind each one. Hope that helps somewhat.
