greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

I"ve been seeing these wood logs in a lot of stores that claim t clean your stove pipe while it burns. It cost 14.95 and states that it will clean the creosote out of your chimney...Has any one use them yet, do they work??

I have not heard about this wood. Does it take only one burning or do you have to use them all the time. Only smoke goes up the stove pipe so if it does clean it would have to be in the smoke and that sounds strange to me.I kinda have my doubts. !! What is the name of the wood. Maybe it would be on the net. I am interested in knowing more about it. Please post if you find out any more about it. Tx.

I've been thinking about trying this, but the ones that I've seen cost around $36.00. I'd rather trust a good sweep. Nothing that I've ever tried as a short cut has never worked that well.
