NABLUS, West Bank - Two Palestinians, including a Hamas militant wanted by Israel, were killed Monday when their car exploded in the middle of the street in the West Bank city of Nablus, witnesses and Palestinian security officials said.

Palestinians immediately blamed the blast on Israel, which has carried out dozens of killings of suspected militants. The car appeared to be booby-trapped and the bomb was detonated by remote control, said Moeen Sakaran, chief of Palestinian intelligence in Nablus.

However, some witnesses reported seeing or hearing planes in the air just before the car went up in flames.

The Israeli army said it was checking the report.

Hamad Sadder, a member of the Hamas military wing who was being sought by Israel, was one of the men killed, Palestinian security sources said. The second man was not immediately identified.
