Hi, I'm from Singapore and I'd like to set up a VCD retail outlet out of the country. I'd like to find out where I can obtain stock of VCDs for my store and if it's advisable to get them from online distributors. Any contacts and information are deeply appreciated. Thanks!

You don't say what country you want to set up the outlet in. I suggest that you contact any attorney in the country you want to set up the outlet. If you are thinking of doing this in the US, I want to warn you that VCDs have questionable legal status in this country. While it is legal for individuals to buy one copy of a VCD for personal use, it is very questionable as to whether stores can legally buy multiple copies of the same title for resale. I have read reports of large shipments of VCDs being seized by US Customs. US Customs usually decides that large shipments are bootlegs, whether they actually are bootlegs or not, and once they claim that they seized bootleg material, it is almost impossible to get them back. Consult an attorney in the country you want to do business, particularly one who is familiar with the copyright laws of that country.

Hi! Thanks for replying, I'm not aware of such situation in the states, but I hav heard of a few who are selling VCDs there. Isn't there any license that I can apply to remedy this problem? Do you hav any idea if Canada has such restriction as well?

Email "entertainment_video@yahoo.com.sg" I am sure they can help you. I have purchased tons of dvds from them. They have an office in your country. The Region 1's come from USA or Canada. However if you are importing them, you might want to check on legalities and licencing in your country. They can give you a good deal on the original region 1's and 2's.
