Don't forget that not only is this Saturday, First Saturday, it is also All Soul's Day. You have an oppourtunity to receive a plenary indulgence, applicable to the Holy Souls in purgatory, as well as a plenary indulgence for yourself. If we are successful at releasing only one soul from the pains of purgatory, it will do us much more good than hours of prayer and sacrifice for ourselves, because that soul will be eternally grateful to you. You will have given that soul freedom from its punishment in purgatory. And for that, that soul will pray to God for you until you are with Him in Heaven. How powerful the prayers must be coming from those so close to God!!!
