Leaving aside your great attachment to the animals and the sadness at parting with them, it sounds as if this change will be the very best thing you can do.

Yes, very clever of you to think about not just DH but BOTH of you being somewhat handicapped as age encroaches; as you know the six steps up to my front and side doors are a probplem for me almost every day and I don't have nearly the same sort of serious problems as your husband. I think it's probably inevitable that he'll have some form of arthritis before too many more years. Besides, all of us old buggers need hip replacements or get broken hips at some point--may as well repare for such eventualities now!

The only hesitation I would offer is about health insurance. Private insurance is VERY expensive, as you know, and there may even be a problem with DH's insurance--the company may say anything remotely connected with his injuries is totally excluded. Private companies CAN and DO do things like that. With that in mind, a little less flexibility in free time might be worth the comprehensive insurance he can get with a company. Might even be worth looking at a government job.

A semi-gypsy existence sounds wonderful, though. . .

OG, as to private insurance, it is against the law in Iowa to exclude injuries covered under workman's comp. We don't have any insurance right now, but we need to get some soon.

Yes I would love to be a gypsy for a while, just need a home base to come home to.

Why don't you see if Eldon Proctor down in Osceola would be interested in your farm? If he isn't, he has relatives who might be. He's in the phone book on Main St.

Oh that's good about the Workmen's Comp! Hope your combined premium is less than the 1600/month those people wanted from us via COBRA. (Including vision and dental.)

So glad to hear hubby is coming along okay. 'course with you around he had no choice, right?

Best wishes on all your new plans. Parting with parts of your life like that isn't easy, but the excitement of the new future will help, I'm sure.

If yer ever down this way on tour, give a yell.
