Barrel Break-in

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

After firing several rounds of FED GM, Win Ballistic Silver Tip and finally firing decent groups with Hornady TAP. Is the barrel in need of anymore firing for break-in? 32 rds total with two trips to the range.

Type in "Break In Rifle Barrel" or something similar in a google search. There be all kinds of things that pop up. Read the ones that have similarity...that will usually be the most recent way of rifle break-in. The gentleman before me is correct, but I believe it is 20 to 25 times now before you stop. Also be careful which way you push thte cleaning rid....in addition, it should only go ONE WAY. Do not pull it back out. Good luck.

NO. But ya got a great start. When I broke in mine, an old Gunny, said ta shoot one round, clean the tube, shoot another, cleen the tube, and so on for ten rounds, letting it cool between shots, On the next trip to the range, do the same accept five shots between cleanings. After 100 rounds, I would concider this a well broke in peace of equipment. Have fun Neal
