Step, Whack, Petrify, CRUSH

To anyone who's ever stared down the Evil Wall in FF4's Sealed Cave, that process is all too familiar to you.

To anyone who's ever BEATEN this infernal thing, I need all the help I can get.

I haven't been to the Sylph cave or the Land of Summons or any of that happy stuff. Can you give me some stats on this thing? HP, weakness, the like? I have Edge throw stuff and blitz, Rydia summons Titan or casts Bio, Rosa casts Cure 3 every round, Cecil uses a physical attack or uses Zeus Hammers, and Kain jumps. Something wrong with that? All my people are in mid 30 levels, so I don't actually LOSE anybody until he starts doing "Crush". Any help would be appreciated.

I just jumped like a mofo, and got really lucky. Ressurected everyone in the party, got back to jumping like a mofo.

Ah....you've come a long way, my friend, so far....The evilwall has 28,000 HP...

When I played through recently, I had Rosa learn Levitate (float) before I went to the sealed cave, and did the Summoners's world sidequest thingy (The Ashura battle is easy if you cast wall on her, because every few turns she cures herself, and it'll be reflected back to you). Leviathan was a hard one to get, but it served useful in fighting EvilWall.

The strategy that worked best for me was having Rydia summon Leviathan, Rosa attacking with bolt arrows (only casting Cur3 AFTER Evilwall starts to use Crush), Kain jumping, Edge throwing, or using his swords, and Cecil physically attacking.

The object is to beat this bloody thing as fast as possible, so, if you're having trouble, have Rosa cast Beserk on Cecil or Haste on as many party members as you can.

Hardest boss fight in 4? Probably. As Davey says, this is a race against the clock. You aren't in any real trouble until Evil Wall starts to Crush you. His physical attacks aren't bad, and he has to Petrify you 3 times before you stop moving. Ok. I suggest going to the Land of Summons first. Just Warp out of there, and take a half hour off.

Ashura and Leviathan are easy. Cast Wall on Ashura, and just watch out for her physical attack. For Leviathan, he only casts Tidal Wave every other turn. The rest of the time it's a Bolt spell. If you really want the fight over quickly, cast Wall on your folks. Other than that, use Edge's Blitz, Summon Ramuh, use Rosa to cure, and have Cecil and Kain attack.

Back to the Wall. Your strategy sounds good, but now you have a lethal new weapon. Cast Haste on Rydia, and summon Leviathan every round. DO NOT throw things at the Wall, it's completely unnecessary. By now, you may notice that if you've equipped Edge properly, he's taking off more with his attack than with his Blitzes. I suggest saving that Fuma for...somebody waiting on the Moon for you. Also, you won't need to use Rosa as a Medic until the Wall gets close, so shoot it with Bolt or Poison arrows.

Finally, for God's sake, level up LOTS before you go to the moon. There are only 3 or 4 real interest places on the Moon, and they're crawling with Behemoths, Red Giants, Worms, and other maniacally strong enemies. Find FuSoYa as soon as you can, and stock up on Antidotes and Softs.
