I'm still here, since the beginning of the original TB2000 Ed Yourdon. Still surfing, listening and learning.

believe it or not all the old memebers died in the 2000 world crash!! Pity of them but then, they all expected that for the unprepared ones...

Bold text is a real cool thing.

This is a bit from my award winning nothing, The life of a moron.

While I was in school one day, I thought to myself how much I hate people. I came to the conclusion that Bold Text scares people and makes them inferior to me.

As many times as I've seen it said here during the last couple of years that Y2k was a hoax, I'm surprised someone has the guts to claim he or she was an expert on the subject!

>From: David Eddy Subject: Re: Why Wait for 2000 To: "Chick, Jon" Cc: year2000

Chick,

re >>By reading most of the y2000 responses, it appears that the big difficulty we are all encountering is not in defining a new date storage algorithm, but finding the time, money, and resources to change the hundreds (thousands?) of programs, database storage parameters, file definitions, etc. in existing systems.<<

Right!

Whether or not folks decide to expand everything from yy to yyyy or do some fancy bit twiddling in place or whatever is of little concern (I think). People will, as alwasy, choose a bewildering array of manners to fix their situations.

The major problem will be finding the resources. Companies simply don't have a lot of excess recourse sitting around. Business (tax law changes, responding to competitive changes, opening new markets, etc) won't stop while we take 4 years out to fix Y2K issues.

How shops go about this resource allocation decision will indeed be interesting.

I'm sure some will try to sell a business, only to find no takers.

David

Anyone heard from Peter Dejager?

Hey, I just discovered your site! Forget Y2K and make this a survival site --- don't give up on this. Lots of good info and HUNGRY folk out there who are scared, worried and totally open to taking prudent responsibility for their homes and families. Keep up the interesting and highly informative input, guys.

Wow, I can't believe there are still folks on here from the old days. Y2K Pro, there's one I remember. Does Neatsfoot come on here much. I know him. We may need supplies in the future, Y2K or not.

Hey, where is everyone? The stock market went down today. The rescue of Private Lynch seems to have been staged. Tax cuts for the wealthy 1% is on track. The Republicans are continuing their march to empire in jack-boots while slashing civil liberties, and the Democrats, or the "lily livered, weasel ass collaborationists" are just posturing, not protesting. So isn't anyone talking anymore?

Y2K - Lessons learned

-- (lessons_le@rn.ed), May 31, 2003.

So sad that TB2K has split into two splinter factions, one of which ("tb2k full topic") is infested with christian identity types of such venom that they are falling over themselves in support of the murderer Eric Rudolph, and the other of which ("tb2k") is only slightly milder in degree.

Does Ed Yourdon really appreciate having his name besmirched by those fora? I cringe each time I see him on Fox News, wondering if a viewer will call in and spill the beans on the awful filth that's being promulgated under the name he gave his book.

-- so sad (so@sad.indeed), June 03, 2003.

Well I just wandered in. I started on that board in late 97 [whenever it started]. I remember when Diane first came on board. I also spent some time on CSY2K and on Debunkers. Charles was an ol'friend.

I was one of those folks dumped when the board went to EZBoard. I was personally canned by Ed, or so the post said. There were about 2 dozen of us that didn't make the cut. No big deal; I looked at the main board today and there didn't seem to be much there. Then, if the people there are happy with it, who am I to judge. Have you heard from Latimer and the others?

Best Wishes,,,,,,

Yes, the structure is still intact and vast but largely empty these days. The echos are deafening. . .

Actually, TB2K split off into many different forums, not just two. You forgot about, among others, TB2K spinoff uncensored, Unk's Wild Wild West and HumptyDumptyY2K. Chris, Unk and a majority of those who were concerned about potential Y2K problems had nothing to do with whatever this "christian identity" thing is that you're obviously concerned about.

Hello,

Happened in today and saw Z's post.  Timing is everything. :)

Doing pretty well, incorporated my company, bought a house, still post from time to time and still tilt at proverbial windmills.  Occasionally post at Badastronomy.com and Randi.org.  Recently was called a 'debunker' again, because of my challenging of the idea that Planet X was going to kill us all.  Some things never change. :)

My wife is well, the cat is still stupid, and all seems fairly right with the world, except what occasionally goes wrong with it.  Hope things are well for everyone else!

Keep smiling,

Jonathan

Dang, I miss the action this forum had in it's bygone days. Many friends made, and much knowledge shared.

Still and all, a special place.

It's good to see some familiar names and handles posting this long after the non-events of Y2k.

Yo Pantyliner,

Got employment?

Even after Y2K, pompous buffoonery is not in great demand.

Don't worry, with your skills of bullshittery you'll survive.

Andy Ray is Famous!

:)

'Tis true, I have posted on other message boards, and under different aliases. Some of the aliases are on your side. ;) Sometimes, one alias argues vehemently with another - that adds credibility to the "doomer" alias, and gets him or her "in."

As I have stated before, 'tis all in the interests of securing information for a post-Y2K book with the working title "ShowDown @ the Y2K Corral: a study in 'cybernoia'." I have also entertained donating proceeds from the profits to Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Microsoft or Apple. Any preferences?

You have been such wonderful participants in my information mining!
