The American Psychological Association has a division of Educational Psychology with a link at http://www.apa.org/about/division/div15.html That link will be a good place to start in search of resources.

In terms of American education, you should consult Lawrence Cremin's two volume history titled "American Education" (1970 & 1980, Harper & Row) The second volume (subtitled "The Metropolitan Experience, 1876- 1980") provides some interested discussions of the impact of modern scientific psychology on pedagogy, school organization and design, and curricular innovation.

More recently you might want to look at the impact of such psychological ideas as cognitive development (Piaget), theories of multiple intelligences (Gardner), social-cultural learning (Vygotsky), and behavioral experiments like Skinner's "teaching machinces." There may also be quite a bit of information in the area of School Psychology.

Last, I would suggest though that it is often underappreciated how the influence went from education to psychology, especially during the late 19th and early 20th century.
