WENTWORTH, N.C. -- Investigators from North Carolina will soon travel to Canada's Northwest Territories to question a man about the slaying of Jennifer Short.

The 9-year-old girl had been missing since her parents were found shot to death in their home in Bassett, Va., on Aug. 15. Her remains were recently found in North Carolina.

Authorities want to talk with Garrison Bowman, who disappeared the day after Michael and Mary Short were shot. He is being held in the town of Inuvik for illegally entering Canada about a month ago.

Bowman's mobile home in North Carolina was searched last weekend. Authorities seized nine maps, one of which was marked to show the location of the Shorts' home.
