Crocheted shawls

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

I have found that when doing farm work in winter a shawl comes in very handy. I general wear one on my head when i am milking in cold weather, It keeps me warmer than a hat, because it covers my neck as well as my head. In addition I can wrap it snuggly around my face and and use my own breath to keep my face warm. Here is a lovely shawl pattern, and also a lovely yarn site. I made a shawl out of their homespun yarn. It is fine yarn, although rather expensive. I recommend purchasing some from Walmart when they closeout their stock. My shawl out of this yarn is wearing very well.

Here is a site that has some instruction. However i am not sure that it is any better than a book.

I want to learn to crochet. Can't find anyone around here to teach me. I can read the books, but I am better with someone showing me the basics, and I can figure it out from there. Joanie
