Reverend Denise, Your Clothes Project for Africa

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Reverend Denise, Were you able to send to Africa the new clothes that you the department store donated to you? This was a concern of mine around the time you posted your notice. They need so many things, and money won't address everything.

Sincerely,

Rev. Stocker thank you so much for remembering the clothes. We sent a big shipment of clothes to Nakuru Kenya to an orphanage for children whose parents have died from Aids. Pastor Martin Odek was in the state of montana as a guest of a church and we met him and his orphange and churches he pastors received new clothes. You are right the clothes meant a lot. I have been in contact with Dr. Dorothy Adams-Peck our wonderful WMS missionary president and Bishop Bryant and Dr. Cee on how to get the clothes to our churches in Africa. Bishop Bryant and Dr. Cee are very concerned about the needs of our African churches and it is a burning desire to help. The Bryants also help with our churches in Cuba. The big expense is mailing for example. Our goal is to get these clothes to our churches as soon as possible. My heart belongs to Namibia and I have shared that on the board before. The needs are so great. Rev. Ursula Higgins in south africa works with street children. My church is a small church but we do hope to move more clothing in the next month to our churches. We also are sending clothes here in the U.S. Rev. Stocker thank you for asking and please keep Dr. Dorothy Adams Peck, Bishop Bryant and Dr. Cee in prayer as they provide ways to help our sisters and brothers on the Motherland.

I want to add that the WMS and Bishop Bryant and Dr. Cee are co- ordinating other projects for Africa. And Dr. Cee is adament that we give only our best to our sister churches in Africa. I do know they will be helping us distribute the clothes. If others want to help our churches in Africa please contact Dr. Dorothy Adams-Peck of the WMS. We have so much in this country we must share.

Praise the Lord for your work and response to the Holy Spirit. My husband and I visit Kenya and have identified communities that are in need of water wells. We would love to partner with the AMEC to accomplish this mission. According to Ambassador Andrew Young, there are more persons dying from malaria, pneomonia (? spelling) than AIDS. When a mother has to use dirty water to mix milk formula, it does nothing. In dry seasons, people are dying due to no WATER. Water is life. There is plenty of water under the ground, they need helping drilling the wells. Some areas require deeper drilling then others. For more information contact Pastor Linda Wheatley, God's Family Life Worship Center, Inc.:Global Missions, P.O.Box 530, Selbyville, DE 19975 or email. Thank you.

Hi, Pastor Linda! We are a small church but God always provides. We would like to help with this project. Could you send me more information then my daughter who is our WMS president can decide how to proceed. This definitely sounds like a project I would want to include youth. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. No one should have to worry about drinking water. God bless you for your efforts.
