Reading the Freeman of late, I am so proud to say I supported the candidates I did. It is obvious that because of them, the healing has begun. Thank you. So many will now benefit.

Yes, hello to all.

I'm writing to say I agree with those who say if school is closed then activities should be closed.

Mr. Ahouse expressed that students are not being discriminated against when sports practices are held on religious holidays, as students are told in advance that there will be no adverse consequences if they choose to observe their holiday instead of attending practice. While this comment may seem innocuous at first, more needs to be considered since these players are certainly faced with adverse consequences, even if not intended.

Let's remember that practices serve to develop and enhance one's skill level. If most team members are improving their skills while others are absent for religious observance, an unfair team advantage develops. We also know that rosters of "starting line-ups/first strings" are created as a result of skills displayed during practices. Therefore, those who are excused for religious observance again miss out on the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and ultimately to play as much as they could otherwise (if at all) during interscholastic games. Considering all this information, a protocol of continuing to practice on religious holidays would in fact be discriminatory.

I amend my last contribution to say that practices during extended holiday vacations certainly seem appropriate.
