VCD wouldn't play on Win98

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Made a number of VCDs from MPEG and they are able to play on most Windows OS PCs and VCD players. However when it comes to Win98, the VCD is recognised as an Audio CD with 2 tracks in them rather than the VCD directory that we will normally see. What could be wrong? Wrong CD Rom driver to recognise the CD format? The CD Rom is from TEAC and it says that Win98 provides the standard driver, no specific driver requires.

Thus how come it plays on other OS but on Win98 with Celeron chip.

Thanks

Check that you have the correct ASPI driver files with that Win98. This is the stinking trouble with Easy CD. It messes the ASPI layer if it can. One nice thing about Nero is that it checks if you have this on installation. You alternatively d/l ASPI from Nero otherwise. But the ASPI layer may or may not be your problem.
