Carolina Morning News Last beer leads to shooting

HILTON HEAD ISLAND: Deputies have arrest warrant for suspect; victim recovering at unnamed hospital.

Blame it on the early morning Beck's.

The last bottle of the German-brewed brew led first to fisticuffs, then to a shooting at a Hilton Head Island home Wednesday.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Debbie Szpanka said Troy Lamont Chisolm, 21, and Tyrone Robinson, 25, began arguing over the last Beck's beer shortly after 6 a.m.

Words led to a physical fight and then Chisolm allegedly pulled a gun and shot Robinson in the back inside Chisolm's Hilton Head Island home at about 6:23 a.m., Szpanka said.

Anonymous callers reported the sounds of gunshots and Chisolm fled before deputies arrived. Robinson, also of Hilton Head, was taken to Hilton Head Medical Center & Clinics then transferred to another hospital, Szpanka said.

Because Chisolm was still at large Wednesday evening, information about Robinson's location and condition were not available.

A warrant was issued for Chisolm's arrest Wednesday, charging him with assault and battery with intent to kill.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Beaufort County Dispatch at 524-2777 and ask to speak the duty investigator for the southern division.

Szpanka said she did not know who had paid for the beer or what happened to the last bottle.
