Burning VCD with Roxio 5.0 and will not play in DVD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a Sony DCR-110, I have recorded a small section of video(6 minutes) to my hard drive via Firewire. I have converted the AVI to MPEG. Using Roxio 5.0 video CD creator I created a VCD. However when I put it into my Samsung DVD player it doesn' work it acts like it is searching for the file until it finally just stops. At times the video length will show up on the DVD display but will never play. What is going on here. I have followed the directions of Roxio. I know that this DVD will play VCD's. Am I at the wrong resolution? I was using Memorex CD-R's. If anyone can help??

Thanks

Bryan

If the Samsung can indeed play CD-R media now create the same VCD with Nero. Please, no questions asked like "I spent so and so on Roxio; it was bundled with this and that so it must be good;" etc., etc.; just try the same routine with Nero. I'd rather staple a skunk to my forehead and howl at the Northern Star than get involved on any level with Roxio.

I will be willing to try nero. The one that I was able to download was only a demo and it won't let you make a VCD. Any place I can download the complete version?

You might also try VCDEasy. It can be flaky and it's not the most intuitive to use, but you can create quite complex menuing and it has the advantage of being free.

Note to Mehmet: I'd pay to see that bit of performance art. :)
