Kyle seems to be heading for a route which will take him north and east away from the US. (Which is kinda what someone I know named Kyle did with himself and the child support.) Lili, however, is a different matter.

Aw hell, the aqua = winds, navy = strike probs.

Looks like our trip is off for now.

yeah, definitely off. perhaps a week later.

we'll see.

last I heard Kyle was drifting to the sw at 8.

Grand Isle in Louisiana is under mandatory evacuation. If you refresh/reload the maps you'll see why they're antsy. There's only one two-lane road down there and the island is only about 3" above sea level, lol!

I did hear they expect Isidore to be a Cat 1, but "they" have been wrong before.

Re Kyle: It was middle of hte night stuff--perhaps they said they expect it to turn north.

The latest projected path takes Isidore about right over the top of the house where my son lives across Lake Pontchartrain from NO. If the worst weather is to the east, then New Orleans East will be inundated by any storm surge. That's the most vulnerable part of the city, as mentioned above. The houses are crappily built too.

Argh! What a nasty looking storm. It doesn't look good for anyone, no matter where it ends up making landfall.

I see the predicted direction for Lili might put the east coast at risk. Am relieved I ordered extra batteries--they were shipped this morning, according to an email from ccrane, took the 2-day option :)

The extended track for Isidore indicates we might get some rain. Hope it's enough to get us out of water restrictions but not TOO much!

Fox News reported motels in Baton Rouge were already full late this afternoon. Trust me, NObody wants to be in one of those shelters with all those screaming, hyperactive children. There are some people who LOVE to go to shelters whether they need to or not. Free food, free child-care assistance--it's a great break from their humdrum lives. Sorry to be so harsh but I'd rather tough it out in a trailer! (Not really, I'd be long gone and would have had a confirmed reservation in a Baton Rouge motel two days ago.)

With luck, Isidore will be a very minimum hurricane and Lili will bugger off after Kyle.

Heard on the eleven oclock news that lili is just a tropical wave now, 40 mph winds.

they say it could get stronger again. Andrew did.

Haven't seen anything on Kyle yet this AM, but last night it seemed "they" weren't quite so sure about his future whereabouts. If he's anything like the Kyle I know, they should try California.
