Burlap?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

Hi!

I plan to make a ghillie suit but don't know where to get the burlap... Here(Norway) it's almost impossible to get it(at a normal price). Do you guys know some websites where I can order stuff like that?

Thx a lot

What i did was just went up to a local fruit and veg shop where they sold potato’s. I can almost guarantee they will have burlap bags and just ask the manager or someone who works up the pack if you can have them when they finish. I got all mine for free and if I ever need anymore all I need to do is ask away.

Burlap bags at our local farmers supply can be bought new or used. The anamal feed is sold in thiese bags. Easy to get & reasonable. So simple & easy in this part of Alabama to get BURLAP sacks. Sew burlap into what ever you wish to use it for. Also larger burlap can be had. But not at the feed store. max.spann@att.net

Twine or natural rope are good if you can't find burlap or stuff like it. Get the thick marine stuff, its kind of hemp like. Flammable as hell though, but I guess smoking is a bad idea in any ghillie suit.

You don't have to use burlap. Take an old piece of rope and untangle it the way you would burlap. It also has the advantage of sometimes giving that mossy appearance that burlap doesn't

I don't know about Norway, but I got my burlap at the landscaping section of a hardware store.

Checkout www.ebay.com. They sell everything, as well as ghillie suits and ghillie suit kits.

Get on the internet and look at a site called www.lightighter.com. they have a kit you can buy with Jute and dye to change it to whatever color you want it. I prefer it to burlap, it's a stronger material, and blends in better than burlap

Don't you have any place where they sell old "coffe bean bags" or "santa clausbags". There must be some stores in norway who is selling jutetread in squaremeters......The trouble is that you have to pull it apart yourself.....check out the suit on the first page. It's made of teard apart "jutetread"

Good luck!!! (you need about 10x2m "jute" for a full military suit)
