Projection welding chrome plated carbon steel

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I am looking for any information relating to the projection welding of chrome plated carbon steel. The process involves welding a carbon steel tube 3mm to 6mm thick to a chrome plated carbon steel rod. The rod is approximately 9mm in diameter and tapers at the end for the projection weld.

Thanks

High carbon steel is not recommended for welding (any type) so if your carbon equivalency is greater than 0.5, you need to make some changes in the material or the process. See the carbon equivalency formula (Barlow's formula) at www.boltex.com/flmaterials.htm
