spotting scopes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

this might be a question thats allready outdebated. I`m thinking of buying a new spotting scope for combined field and range work. what range of magnification would you recommend and should I get a straight line scope or one with a 45 degree eyepiece ??

Best type for shooting prone is without doubt the 45 degree angled eyepiece which allows very easy spotting without having to get up from your shooting position.

Also the 45 model will allow you to keep the scope stable as it will be much nearer the ground, making shake almost nil.

Best of luck.
