Continuous resistance welding of ss screen

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I am looking for a process or service which could resistance weld a cylinder rolled from ss screen. The screen is about a 40 mesh and 1/4 in inside diamenter.

We have built several resistance seam welding machines through the years for applications similar to yours. However, your 1/4" part diameter is smaller than anything we've ever tried. Welding machines for this type of job share the common feature of having a stationary mandrel over which the part is loaded. A resistance seam welding head mounted on a slide mechanism travels along the length of the part as it is welded. For best results, it's important to have accurate control of the seam overlap. Therefore, a robust clamping mechanism design is important. From your e-mail address, it looks like you're outside the US. If you are seeking a supplier to produce these parts for you, I know of a few sources, but they are all here in States. E- mail me privately if you'd like further information. - Tom Snow / T. J.
