Morrow Point Reservoir

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Northern Colorado paddling : One Thread

Anyone planning on paddling on Morrow Point Reservoir might want to reconsider. The 230 steps from the parking lot to the river are no problem. It is the distance down the river to the reservoir that is the problem. No problem going downriver if you can handle swift, cold class II+, maybe one class III drop. It is getting back that might be troublesome. You won't be able to paddle up this river which means you will have to portage up the river about two miles before you can begin climbing the 230 steps out of the canyon. Pool elevation is 7128, 32 feet below full and dropping at the time of the note. (9-10-02)
