Thinking of starting a new MV Agusta message board...joiners?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I like this forum we have here, but was thinking of starting one with a pics and videos section, much like www.r1-forum.com, or gixxer.com.

This way we could keep track of members, have a for-sale and parts trade section, etc...

Anyone interested in doing this? I can do all of it - but will everyone join?

This board is ok, but is a little old - and such a beautiful bike should have a beautiful board too!! I can get the hosting and design at no charge (I do those myself) and the software for the message board is only $85.00 US. Membership would of course be free...

When I started this forum what I wanted was a mailing list/website. I don't like having to register and having my email bombarded with spam. I've been using greenspun before this and found that it was a good compromise. It's simple to use and it's free! It does have its shortcomings though, no search function, outtages, etc.

It's great that you can provide the domain name, hosting, and design. Please let me know how I can help.

Sounds great.... I'll join.

yahoo has got already one, only limited in storage though

Yeah, and there are pop-up ads and they add your name to mailing lists. I'm talking about a real board, just for MV's, on it's own domain name - a central place for everything that is MV.

I'm taking suggestions for names....

I really like this board and have been hear for awhile, but I'll join practically any MV board. There really aren't too many MV boards on the net.

As far as I know, there's this one, Yahoo (more of an e-mail exchange), and one on Ducatinfopop (not too much traffic).

Thus another reason I'd like to start a new one - I'd like to see it become the central point for everyone regarding MV. We can have an orders sections, to know what is going on with people bike orders, a documents section for people to load neat and exciting things from MV, a pics section, even a trade square for people to move parts from one place to another...

I think it'll be great...

PS - It will also keep important messages at the top of the discussion list, and certain discussions can me marked as a bookmark. New users can actually find out about dealer experiences, doing first oil changes, really ANYTHING that ANY member finds to be important...

Look at www.r1-forum.com and gixxer.com for examples...

I will joint, If there is a need of password, make sure it is easy, and the computer can remember it. On the daily basis, I must be entering 10 to 20 password, and this get old. The easier is the better. Thanks

Perhaps you could get some dealers to sponsor you. It would have absorb the cost and bring in a few dollars.

If possible, can we not have to use passwords. As someone said, the easier the better.

Passwords will be required, but the software will allow you to autologin, it will save your login in a cookie and you will just go straight into the site after logging in only one time...

Pretty cool stuff...

This sounds like just the thing we all need.....how about a MV Agusta USA Owners club/forum similar to the UK ! Lets make it classy and artistic too!

Jeremy,

Thanks for offering to start another message board. Apart from the limited content, there also seems to be reliability problems here so yes, count me in!

I'm in as well. Are you thinking VBulletin? If so I'd be happy to help admin. I co-run www.northtexasaudigroup.com - see forums for our little slice. We even have a motorcycle chat section ;)

Yeah, I think VBulletin will give the result we are all looking for...

I don't forsee anyone getting spam from joining, as I will own the domain and software, any emailings would be as an opt in, opt out kind of thing.

MVF4S - as you started this forum, I'd like to pre-invite you to be an admin on the new board. I can get the thing running, but keeping everything up-to-date could be a challenge.

JamesC - That would help alot if you'd like to admin!!

Count me in!!! Sounds like its what we have all been waiting for.

-- Robert Stevenson (the.stevensons@btinternet.com), September 06, 2002.

That would be fantastic. I am always searching for new stuff on the MV. Count me in!

-- Pete (pistonpete@hotmail.com), September 06, 2002.

There is a ton of great info on this site. Are you planning on archiving all this Q&A for access on the new site?

-- Gordon (gdahl@triotek.com), September 06, 2002.

Anything happened yet? I'm in.

Cheers, Craig.
