How totally irresponsible.... Jake and company! Do some research before you commit libel. Your Pepsie nonsense is just that, a hoax. Try checking out before wasting bandwidth:

8. Urban Legends Reference Pages: Inboxer Rebellion (Who's a Pepper?) •••• Does a new can design introduced by Dr Pepper include the text of the Pledge of Allegiance with the words ...Pepsi has a new patriotic can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Bldg. and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. But Pepsi forgot two little words... ...the pledge, "Under God." Pepsi said they did not want to offend anyone. If this is true then we do not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate... ...not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office. If we do not buy any Pepsi product then they will not receive any of our monies. Our money... Wed, 28 Aug 2002 06:44:30 GMT http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/drpepper.htm

Even that being the case, I'm happy that the thread was begun, because it led to a very fruitful discussion regarding how conscientious Catholics ought to respond to a corporate world that is frequently hostile to faith, life, and God.

And besides, since the Pepsi conglomerate is listed among companies that fund/support abortion mills, it continues to give Catholics every reason to seek an alternative.

Wow.

It's okay to spread false rumors if the target is guilty anyway of some other crime? Would outright lying be okay, too?

The ends do not justify the means. After September 11, and the crisis brought on by hiding pedophiles within the Church, I would have thought this would be clear to everyone.

I think they should have the words" under God" on the can because God is all we've got right now to stand on and without Him this nation will fall apart....( not like it already hasn't but....)Taking God out of everything we do does not help anything! In fact, it just makes it worse.....Furthermore, our Pledge of Allegiance SAYS " UNDER GOD" , and that was the intent when the Pledge was created, for us to be UNDER GOD....

-- Hannah Shaffer (Anglqt4e@aol.com), September 14, 2002.

history lessens appear in order. under God was not in the original pledge which was written by a Socialist Baptist who was removed from the pulpit for using it to spread socialism.

He wrote a pledge for all countries, he wanted to put in equality, but since at the time we were segregated and women couldn't vote, he knew we wouldn't go for that.

We've modified it thrice since, what I think was a major modification is when we moved the salute that all school children and citizens used prior to the 40's....yes now it is a hand over the heart, hard to imagine holding your right hand outstreched palm out, but when Hitler adopted that pose, we changed. And in the 50's we added under God, just barely, and many of those who voted it in, got voted out in the next election...interesting huh?

But we seem to think we've had this forever, no it was written by a socialist for the world, adopted and modified by us, and God was not only an after thought, but a long after thought

It hasn't yet changed in my lifetime, but looking at its history it would be ludicrous to bet it won't be...

Lastly since sugar and carbonation increase your risk of cancer, and diet means aspartame and more cancer.....why do you worry about what is on the outside of the can WAKE UP AMERICA quit drinking all soda, pop, soda pop whatever, whatever label, worry about the garbage inside!

I have seen this rumor all over the place, and it is false. And you know what? It’s a Dr. Pepper can people are talking about, not Pepsi. After I heard about it I looked it up on snopes (urban legend site) and the whole thing is there: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/drpepper.htm

I strongly oppose Pepsi's decision to take out "Under God". We are under God and if we choose not to be then we will be under our enemies! I have been a pepsi drinker for over 10 years. But i will stop drinking it if removes "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance- what America was founded on! If we are ashamed to owne God, he will be ashamed to own us. In times like this (threat of war and war) we need him forever!!

You must concider, that even if God was an after thought to America (not saying that I believe that) America in no way was an after thought to God. If we discrediting him, for giving us this country, then what is to stop him from taking it away from us? Man? Yah, right! Why try to avoid affending those fools who don't believe in God, when it will offend God? and not only him, all of the followers who wholeheartedly believe in him?

MY GOD WAKE UP PEOPLE...

are you all deft, or just not reading the forum? pepsi co OWNS dr pepper, the can is designed by pepsi, and pepsi is NOT leaving out the words under God.

with that said, the history lesson by wil is filled with factual errors. i happen to own a text predating the nineteen forties that states that proper position of a civilian during the pledge of allegiance or during a passing of the colors is a hand over the heart, while the military salute has remained the same since this country's conception. there has never been a time when non nazi, non kkks were instructed to salute in hitleresk fashion. also, the words under God were added in the early 1800s, although i believe that you 'facts' on the source of the pledge is wrong.

"WAKE UP AMERICA quit drinking all soda, pop, soda pop whatever, whatever label, worry about the garbage inside"

Very nicely spoken.

It is a well known fact that soda pop drinkers suffer from impaired reading abilities.

JUST KIDDING! :)
