TUS in Exile

So, since greenspun is up, I guess I will hang out here while the board is shut down. What is everyone else up to today?

Answers

Having a chocolate dilemma, about which I posted pathetically before the board closed, so I'll refrain from boring people again. Otherwise, I'm just scrambling to get a pile of work done so I can leave for vacation on thursday with a clear conscience.

Re-posting so this shows up.

I am at work, but simultaneously am trying to work on my thesis. I didn't get a whole lot done this weekend on my thesis, which is bad. So, I have to work my butt off today and tomorrow so my super doesn't think I am a flake.

I've dedicated my entire day to avoiding any and all responsible activities like homework and cleaning the house. I just realised though that I have no time between now and Friday to finish a huge project for class and I'm thinking that even though it's nearly 11pm here, I might have to do some drawing. Nothing is ever fun when you're required to do it for a grade.

I'm resolving to be productive at work. But we'll see how long that lasts considering that this forum is up.

I'm trying to be productive. But my heart's just not in it. I want it to be Sunday evening again, so I can be giddy that I don't have to go to work on Monday.

I am updating my goddamn journal. And I had no idea that Greenspun was back up, so I didn't know you guys were here.

I am busy busy busy at work, taking care of lots of new school year stuff and breaking in a new temp. This is my first time supervising a new employee so I'm a bit, well, frantic. It's going okay so far, at least I think.

Now to deal with the 25 resumes in my inbox, since I need to hire new student workers! Maybe it's better for me that the forum is down today.

I'm watching some trashy interiors show on TV, and waiting for the plumber who was due between 10 am and noon (it's 5.25 pm now).

And I've just invited a friend round for dinner, so I suppose I'm going to have to thinking about what to make soon.

I'm at work, doing nothing.. as usual. The temp life is such a boring one. I am planning to start my grad school search this afternoon. PhD in Law and Society (or some similar interdisciplanary course) here I come!

I'm getting caught up on some smaller tasks I need to do here in the office so I can go back to the big project I'm working on. Surprisingly, I'm not as tired as I thought I'd be today after three nights of staying up way past my bedtime. The bonus is that my boss decided to take this week off since he's having major renovations being done at his house. A week of peace and quiet is always good.

I'm on day four of a five day-off extravaganza. Currently cleaning my house, listening to KCRW and trying to decide whether to take a distance course in Latin from the University of Georgia.

Right now, I'm working, but I'm wishing I was home playing the new Buffy game for my Xbox that I picked up on Sunday. It doesn't do a spectacular job visually; everyone, especially Willow, looks a bit undead, even when they're not supposed to. However, the dialogue is pretty funny, and the gameplay is fun and fairly challenging. And as it's set during the third season, you get to fight Spike! So, yeah, in general, it's a lot more interesting than work.

I am developing a raging crush on my professor in spite of myself. I could barely refrain from doodling his initials all over my notebook in class today. God, I'm lame.

-- Anonymous, September 03, 2002

Hi everyone. I was sick a couple of days last week, and when I came back everything was gone again, and then my computer broke yesterday. I am currently reinstalling the system to see if that fixes things, and since that takes awhile I finally decided to come check my email and see if you guys were back yet. Ahhhh.

Stacey, it is not lame to have professor crushes. I kind of like it when a student has a crush. And frankly, I have wildy inappropriate student crushes, or at least thoughts, too.

I'm on hold, listening to the Spandau Ballet classic, "True". I got thrown into another beat this week without warning, which is extra fun for me. Today I played phone tag with an economist, an asst. police chief, a hospital spokeswoman, and a real estate VP.

I'm back late from a celebratory lunch, I got a promotion, whee! So I'm approaching this afternoon's work through a slight wine-induced haze.

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2002

Excellent! That's the best way to work, in my opinion. Congratulations.

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2002

Ahh, thanks Plin. What are you up to today?

-- Anonymous, September 04, 2002

Congratulations!

Me, I'm still trying to wrap up work stuff so I can go on vacation (tomorrow! Eek!) with a clear conscience. Also headachey from a lack of sleep.

Whew. Finally done with a big thing my boss was starting to tap her foot about.

I had a bit of a run-in with *her* boss this morning, in which he was inappropriately condescending in a bad-manager, retired-military kind of way and yours truly was pissy and defensive, in a fuck-you-step- the-fuck-off-don't-you-EVER-do-that-again kind of way. If the forum were up to speed, I'd post the whole situation and get your opinions, but it's not that interesting and I know I'm right and an adult . . . and he's wrong and a socially inept and controlling dickhead. So there. The final result, I guess, is that he's going to Talk To My Boss about it, and she's already made it clear that she's monumentally unconcerned about the whole thing. No one can take this dicksmack seriously, really. But we can all manage to detest his stupid ass.

Boy, I'm charming today.

Good for you, Guppy. I detest him on your behalf.
