Presidential Towers Switching Problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SpannMan's Logbook : One Thread

This past Thursday night, folks from NISA-P upgraded and rewired the switches in the closets at Presidential Towers. On Friday morning, our CIO users did not have connectivity to the CIODC0.

We called Jim Therry of NISA-P (202.320.0589) and he dispatched people to PT. Turns out they rewired CIODC0 into one VLAN which was a different VLAN from the rest of the client workstations. The problem corrected.

This morning, Carl Bolter had no network connectivity. I called Jim at 06:00 and he told me he would have someone here by 08:00.

Dan Brooks called back. 703.693.8703. He snooped around on his end. Told me that NISA-P folks were working in the building last night, but not on this floor. Any work done should not affect us. He reset a switch, Cisco 3500, and we magically began working.

Again this morning, we are having connectivity problems. Our workstations are not receiving valid DHCP addresses. I called the DNHN Help Desk. Ticket 87354. Dominique rebooted the DHCP server (164.224.238.17) but this did not resolve the problem. I had them log a call with NISA-P. Ticket Number 35377. Dan Brooks (NISA-P) called and asked me several questions. Will call back.
