RIP Walter Lord

Although it has been quite some time since I have posted to this forum, I thought it would be appropriate to note the passing of Walter Lord, author of (among many books) "A Night to Remember".

Lord was the father of modern Titanic research, and, in a sense, the begining of the crescendo of interest in the Titanic that has occured over the last 50 years. "A Night to Remember" was based on very fine research and scholarship, including interviews with 65 survivors of the disaster, and in all major respects, holds up very well even today. It is unquestionably the place to start for anyone who wants to learn more about the Titanic other than simply "it was a big ship that hit an iceberg and sank."

It is hard to imagine Carmeron's movie without Lord and his research and books.
