S.F. Hauntings

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

Hi, there. Love the site. Actually I have two questions...hope you don't think I'm nuts. 1st: Does anyone have any information on hauntings of the beach area in and around the old Sutro bath ruins/Cliff House/Playland area? 2nd: Does anyone have any information on a victorian dressed woman who haunts the northwest corner of the unnamed children's section of Olivet cemetary? My grandparents and I had several "experiences" in these areas from 1963 to present and would like any info anyone has or experiences anyone wants to share.

I got a lot of hits on the Olivet ghost by putting: california ghost "olivet cemetary" into google. This was the first one that came up (it has music, so turn your speakers down):

I remember a story of the "Sutro Ghost" which turned out to be a cassette recorder connected to trip wires, which would result in screeching noises if someone would come near it. This was about 1961 when the baths were closed; they burned June 22, 1966.

Rosa: The olivent on this sight is back east. I should have been more specific. I was talking about Mount Olivet in Colma, CA. If you should find anything on that cemetary I would be deeply appreciative. Thanks again!

Wolfgang: I submitted the tape recording info to the Western Neighborhoods Projject Site to see if I can get further information. Thanks for the lead! Let's hope we get a bite on it!
